About The Position

The F5 Consultant at Optiv is a full-time role focused on providing technical and consultative expertise in F5 BigIP appliances and application delivery. The consultant will engage in various activities including capacity planning, technology deployment, and user acceptance testing, while also mentoring less experienced team members. The position requires strong technical skills, effective communication, and the ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and approximately 2-5 years of related work experience.
  • Approximately 2-5 years of technical architecture experience.
  • Thorough understanding of large scale environments.
  • Strong presentation and verbal communication skills.
  • Process-oriented individual with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing skills and expert knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence other functional areas.
  • Well-developed negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel.
  • Valid driver's license in the US.
  • Willingness to pursue related professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, and/or CISA.

Nice To Haves

  • F5 specific certifications (F5-CSE) highly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge and prior experience with security application delivery technologies.
  • Scripting languages preferred (Perl/Python/Java/Bash).
  • Knowledge of general security concepts and methods such as vulnerability assessments and incident response.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance issues affecting clients.

Responsibilities

  • Participate and occasionally lead in capacity planning and hardware specification recommendation efforts.
  • Engage in all technology deployment activities, including connector configuration and custom rule development.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing and bug-related engineering efforts, occasionally leading these efforts.
  • Design and implement specific technology build processes, code migration, and source control for projects.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and post-production support as necessary.
  • Mentor less experienced consultants and maintain effective communication within the team.
  • Complete administrative project tasks such as time and expense entry and status reporting.
  • Contribute to improving operational efficiency on projects and internal initiatives.
