About The Position

Norfolk State University seeks applicants for a Full-time, Assistant/Associate Professor of Graphic Design/New Media/Web Design and UX/UI tenure track position, within its Department of Visual and Performing Arts, Division of Fine Arts. The start date is spring 2026 or fall 2026. The successful candidate must possess drive, an appreciation for diversity, and talent to teach some combination of undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of Graphic design/new media/web design and UX/UI in a growing and highly engaged Visual Studies Program. Applications must be submitted by November 30, 2025, for full consideration. The position will remain open until it is filled.

Requirements

  • An MFA in graphic design, new media, web design or related field
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience at a comprehensive four-year college or university.

Nice To Haves

  • Well versed in mac and PC platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a graphic design laboratory with large format printers and other digital media tools.
  • Evidence of active research and publication in peer reviewed journals in the candidate's area of expertise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of working with a diverse student population.
  • Evidence of continuing professional engagement in the field of graphic design.
