About The Position

The Sheet Metal Technician II (Technician) is responsible for performing structural maintenance, repair, fabrication, and modification of F-16 aircraft sheet metal components in accordance with technical data, engineering instructions, and applicable regulations. This role ensures the structural integrity, airworthiness, and mission readiness of the F-16 platform through skilled metalwork, precision, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with aircraft technical data and structural repair manuals.
  • Proficiency with sheet metal fabrication, layout, drilling, riveting, and assembly processes.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints, TOs, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Knowledge of aircraft structural systems, corrosion prevention, bonded structures, and fastener applications.
  • Proficient in the English language with effective communication and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be able to work independently or part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate safe and healthy workplace practices.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to travel within the US and internationally.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a Sheet Metal Technician II in daily work performance.
  • Must be able to work in hazardous locations and various weather environments and conditions.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) and not be barred from any installation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience, including at least 3 years of dedicated sheet metal maintenance experience.

  • Graduate of military aircraft structural repair/sheet metal school (e.g., USAF Aircraft Structural Maintenance), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform intermediate to advanced sheet metal repairs, replacements, and modifications on F-16 aircraft structures, skins, frames, longerons, ribs, bulkheads, panels, fairings, doors, and associated assemblies.
  • Diagnose structural issues, corrosion, cracks, stress damage, and deformation; recommend corrective actions per technical directives.
  • Fabricate, fit, form, and assemble replacement parts using approved materials, precision measuring tools, and standard metalworking equipment.
  • Lay out, drill, ream, countersink, deburr, and rivet structural components using appropriate fasteners (solid, blind, HI-LOK, etc.).
  • Remove, repair, and install structural components and assemblies in accordance with OEM, TO, and engineering requirements.
  • Utilize aircraft Technical Orders (TOs), maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics, drawings, and job guide(s) to perform work.
  • Conduct corrosion treatment, sealing, and aircraft metal surface protection using approved materials and processes.
  • Operate sheet metal shop equipment such as shears, brakes, rollers, presses, grinders, sanders, rivet guns, drills, and pneumatic tools safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper documentation of all maintenance actions in aircraft forms, records, maintenance systems, and logbooks as required by Company, client, and regulatory standards.
  • Support inspections, functional checks, and quality assurance requirements.
  • Adhere to OSHA and OH&S requirements, use proper use of PPE, safety systems, and tools. Work collaboratively with other maintenance disciplines to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft upgrades, and heavy/phase inspections.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are accounted for prior to and at work stoppage/completion in accordance with FOD (foreign object damage) principles.
  • Provide training and guidance to other technicians.
  • Communicate supply and equipment levels; report shortages and ensure timely resolution.
  • Communicate aircraft discrepancies and corrective actions to aircrew prior to departure.
  • Demonstrate proper housekeeping in and around aircraft, hangars and breakroom.
  • Demonstrate strict tool accountability throughout all phases of the maintenance process by properly controlling, tracking, and documenting tools, and immediately reporting any damaged, missing, or unserviceable tools in accordance with Company policy.
