About The Position

Boeing Test and Evaluation (BT&E) is seeking a recent college graduate, or person with 1-2 years of experience, to join our high-performance engineering team on-site at the Eglin AFB, FL as an F-15 Flight Test/Mission Systems Engineer. The primary function of this position will involve providing engineering technical expertise to the United States Air Force in support of F-15 aircraft flight test activities. The principal focus of this position will include providing systems and integration engineering expertise relating to electronics, avionics, sensors, weapon/armament systems, and system software upgrades for F-15C, F-15E, and F-15EX aircraft. This position will include both Development Test and Evaluation (DT&E) and Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) mission support. This position will require working side-by-side with USAF personnel, having a full-time work space co-located within the F-15 flight test squadron, and taking work task directives directly from the Squadron Commander, Squadron Test Directors, and USAF Test Engineer Leads. Daily coordination will be required to communicate, coordinate, and directly support the execution of complex test activities with frequent interaction across multiple engineering groups, technical teams, and USAF product users. Strong Project Management/Integrator skills, interpersonal communication skills, and team leadership skills are necessary to be successful in this role. The ability to perform root-cause analysis and investigative troubleshooting to identify and sort actual problems from non-problems will be essential. If selected, you will be routinely involved in a wide variety of interesting technical development projects and advanced technology systems being integrated onto F-15 fighter aircraft. An understanding of aircraft Operational Flight Program (OFP) development processes, Agile software development methods, and system problem documentation procedures is highly desired. Detailed knowledge and prior experience with integrated tactical avionics systems and fighter aircraft flight test methodology is also desired. The applicant must be self-motivated, dependable, have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and exhibit excellent interpersonal/team participation skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Willing to work variable shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime

Responsibilities

  • Participation in the creation, planning, coordination, and integration of F-15 flight test programs in joint collaboration with USAF program managers and technical leadership
  • Participation in short and long range flight test program scheduling, phasing, and sequencing of required test objectives
  • Participation in test requirements planning, determination of range and test resource needs, and coordination of the assets needed to meet system evaluation/verification requirements
  • Aircraft configuration planning and records keeping in support of pre-test planning and post-test documentation
  • Writing, reviewing, and coordinating approval of large test planning documents
  • Development of detailed test item verification criteria (MOPs and Test Points)
  • Development and review of test mission flight profile designs (system switch/mode setups, test asset orientations, target separation distances, own-ship/target offsets, execution altitudes/speed, own-ship/target maneuvering, etc)
  • Test point execution documentation and tracking
  • Flight test team activity schedule coordination
  • Writing and reviewing aircrew flight cards
  • Attending aircrew pre/post mission briefings
  • Providing real-time technical support during test flights from a ground control facility
  • Writing various technical results reports to document test results and program activities
  • Performing post-mission data/video analysis and test point pass/fail scoring
  • Performing Test Program activity leadership: hosting meetings, milestone tracking, equipment tracking
  • Reporting program execution status at weekly Program Management meetings and generating program tracking metrics
  • Attendance and participation in Program Review meetings (ITT, PMR, TPWG; Road Map, Platform Reviews, etc.)
  • Attendance and participation in flight test review boards (CCB, ATR/SB, HRB, FTRR, etc.)
  • Reviewing and making inputs into Mission Planning and pre-mission Data Module programming (JMPS, DTM, DRMM systems)
  • Working temporary non-standard labor schedules (early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and/or holidays) as needed to support flight test activities
  • Occasional off-site support for meetings and deployed flight testing will be required (primarily to St. Louis, Holloman AFB, Nellis AFB, and deployed Large Force Exercises)
