About The Position

The Billing Specialist/Registration position at HealthNet Inc. is responsible for managing billing processes for optometry and eye care services. This role involves reviewing accounts, submitting claims, ensuring compliance with insurance processes, and providing excellent customer service to patients. The specialist will also participate in training programs and assist in the resolution of billing issues to enhance cash flow and reduce accounts receivable.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in an eye care center or billing role is necessary.
• Understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers and commercial billing and collections.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations and billing requirements is essential.
• Certification in coding & billing preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual in Spanish or Burmese preferred but not required.
• Experience in third-party billing/collection with knowledge of specific payer requirements.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Review accounts for assigned payers to reduce accounts receivables and enhance cash flow.
• Submit electronic or paper claims and follow up on their status.
• Provide feedback to management regarding compliance issues and nonpayment of claims.
• Greet patients and ascertain their needs via telephone and in-office interactions.
• Accurately complete patient registrations and pre-registrations.
• Initiate collections with insurance carriers on submitted claims.
• Review billing for accuracy and completeness, ensuring timely completion.
• Assist with posting mail receipts and payment listings against patient accounts.
• Participate in monthly training programs for staff on billing and collection policies.
• Assist with the proper posting of all payment listings and batches.
