We are currently seeking an Extrusion Supervisor to join our team. Location: Sugar Land, TX The Extrusion Supervisor supports the Sugar Land Extrusion department by monitoring the extrusion process, driving key performance indicators (KPIs), identifying improvement opportunities, and assisting in the training process. This role also interfaces with Product Development to support product and business development efforts.

Requirements

  • Education: 4-year engineering degree emphasizing process management or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Strong manufacturing experience with proven ability to drive KPIs such as efficiency, waste reduction, and quality performance.
  • Experience with web handling is required; converting webs is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, ability to analyze data and compose reports, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical Demands: Works in a manufacturing environment and will be required to wear hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting. May, on a continuous basis, stand/walk for up to 12 hours per shift as well as stoop and kneel frequently. Must be able to climb up to 5 stories repeatedly; may handle, feel, and reach for items in and around work area, and also write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds required. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.

Nice To Haves

  • Extrusion operation experience is a plus, including familiarity with coextruded blown film extrusion using Polyethylene (PE), Polypropylene (PP), Polyamide (PA), and Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH).
  • Experience with W&H Varex extrusion systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor QA testing results daily. Investigate root causes for out-of-spec or out-of-control results, drive action to quarantine or non-conforming material as results dictate, and develop and implement effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Involve production, quality, customer, and product development employees as necessary.
  • Monitor daily production data, specifically analyzing waste and efficiency metrics. Identify improvement opportunities, conduct root cause investigations, and develop and implement corrective actions to improve KPIs such as waste reduction, uptime, and throughput.
  • Interface with Product Development to assist with all extrusion trials, including new product development, alternate resin evaluations, and business development samples. Ensure that product meets specifications and all requested process and product data is collected and delivered to Product Development.
  • Support Extrusion department training plans in developing operator skills to meet training requirements.
  • Provide back-up support for the Extrusion Manager when they are not in the plant.
