Extrusion Operator

Diamond Plastics Corporation is a leading PVC pipe producer in North America, known for its extensive range of products for water and sewer applications. The Extrusion Operator position is located in Golconda, NV, and involves overseeing one or more extrusion and manufacturing processes that convert raw PVC materials into finished pipe products. The operator is responsible for the entire extrusion process, ensuring that manufacturing standards and quality controls are maintained throughout the production cycle. This role requires a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement, as operators will work closely with colleagues to enhance production efficiency and product quality. The Extrusion Operator will determine setup procedures and assist with the installation of dies, machine screws, and sizing rings on the extrusion machines according to specified guidelines. Operators will start machines and set controls to regulate various parameters such as vacuum, air pressure, and temperature, while synchronizing the speed of the manufacturing process. Continuous monitoring and adjustments are essential to meet production specifications and efficiency targets. The operator will also be responsible for cutting the extruded pipe to specified lengths, measuring product dimensions for quality assurance, and maintaining accurate records of production metrics. In addition to these responsibilities, the operator will compare product characteristics against established standards, reject non-conforming products, and bundle finished pipe according to inventory and shipping requirements. Effective communication with supervisors regarding production issues is crucial, as is adherence to safety standards and housekeeping practices within the plant. Reliable attendance is expected, and operators may be assigned additional tasks as needed. This position is skill-level based, with compensation linked to the achievement of specific skills and competencies.
