Job Summary: Operates plastic extruder to produce finished goods which meet customer’s specifications and to perform other task incidental to preparing products for delivery to customers.

Requirements

  • High School
  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience (Extrusion experience is a plus)
  • Must be able to read, write and perform basic mathematical problems.
  • Must have experience in reading production specifications and/or blueprints
  • Must have aptitude to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to identify the root-cause of defects in product and recommend processing adjustments to eliminate defect in product
  • Must have ability to read tape measure and micrometer
  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as pallet jack and lift truck

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for personal safety and monitoring the safety of others.
  • Daily start up and efficiently running extruder to produce finished goods requested by customer in a safe manner utilizing start up documentation and set points.
  • Communicate with previous shift lead as well as oncoming shift lead about key information or trouble issues during shift and resolution path
  • Review and post weekly schedule for production line
  • Coordinate and direct personnel into needed positions with alignment from Supervisor
  • Assure all supplies are in place when needed
  • Coordinate and arrange daily break schedules aligned with Supervisor and assist as needed
  • Daily production reporting of material usage, material and labor scrap, and sheet productivity
  • Daily lift truck pre-shift inspection and usage of lift truck
  • Reads production sheet to determine what part is to be produced.
  • Fills machine hopper with raw material and keeps it full during production run.
  • Perform quality checks by taking samples and comparing with blue print and measuring with calipers. Make machine adjustments to maintain specifications.
  • Gauge / thickness adjustment throughout the shift to align with production schedule and part blueprint.
  • Package finished goods.
  • Assemble boxes, spools and skids.
  • Package finished goods on spools and/or in boxes and/or on skids.
  • Housekeeping: Maintains clean and orderly work area by keeping tools and equipment in proper places and all materials off the floor.
  • Performs other routine duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Effectively communicate with others
  • Overtime may be required
