About The Position

The Extrusion Operator I is responsible for supporting the manufacturing of polyethylene (PE) pipe through tasks such as coiling, taping, stacking, packaging, and performing basic quality checks. This is an entry-level position with training provided. The role also includes maintaining a clean and safe work environment and assisting other departments or shifts as directed by leadership.

Requirements

General Safety and Housekeeping Standards
Basic defect identification and escalation protocols
PE Pipe Coiling and Unloading Procedures
Gasket installation and basic extrusion equipment operation
Reliable transportation is required.
Safety footwear (steel/composite-toe) is required at all times in production and warehouse areas
Safety glasses are required and provided
Additional PPE must be worn as needed for specific tasks

Responsibilities

Install pre-cut gaskets on vacuum and spray tanks as instructed.
Verify proper coiler arm settings for the required inside diameter (28”–60”).
Neatly and tightly coil pipe according to specifications:
Tape coils at 4 points with 4 wraps.
Secure start and end of coil with 2 wraps of color footage tape.
Plug both ends of every coil.
Inspect pipe for:
Proper printing and labeling
Quality appearance (e.g., splits, pock marks, scratches, rough ends, striping)
Maintain neat and safe pipe stacks.
Communicate any non-conforming product or operational issues to the Shift Supervisor.
Place defective pipe in the regrind area in a neat and orderly fashion.
Keep the area from extruder to coiler clean and organized.
Return supplies at the end of each shift.
Participate in shift change communications to ensure continuity and issue resolution.
