About The Position

Operates equipment related to production of extruded polystyrene foam sheet. Directs daily activities in the department to maintain a clean, safe & efficient work area, according to established standards.

Requirements

• 3 years of related training &/or experience.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Successful completion of all level Extrusion Skills Assessments.
• Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, & procedure manuals.
• Ability to print simple sentences & legibly complete reports & time cards.
• Ability to understand & follow verbal instructions.
• Ability to read, analyze & interpret technical procedures & manufacturing terminology.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one & small group situations to other employees of the organization.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
• Ability to effectively present information & respond to questions from groups of managers & the general public.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, & decimals.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, & proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems & deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, & draw valid conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Trains department personnel in the set-up & operation of extrusion equipment & support equipment.
• Ensures material being produced meet specifications.
• Ensures proper recording of reports, data, & testing procedures.
• Communicates/coordinates shift activity with other shifts & departments.
• Makes suggestions to improve process or procedures within department.
• Diagnoses operational/quality problems & directs correctional activities.
• Performs all machine operation functions within department.
• Follows & participates in plant safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
• Remains compliant with BRC / HACCP requirements as per this location's written 'Food Safety & Quality Policy'.
