About The Position

The Extrusion Operator has the primary responsibility in the day to day product process flow at the extrusion line. In their absence, the Extrusion Assistant will step-up and perform the day to day product process flow. The primary function is to produce the products within specification while performing the necessary duties to operate and maintain the specified equipment.

Requirements

• Experience in operating extrusion lines and related equipment.
• Ability to set and maintain temperatures and flow rates for extrusion processes.
• Knowledge of quality standards and minimal scrap production.
• Experience with spray systems and maintaining fluid levels.
• Ability to perform maintenance and cleaning of extrusion equipment and dies.
• Familiarity with flocking machines and processes.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Pixargus and traceability printers.
• Knowledge of PE welding and plasma units.
• Familiarity with flock glue application processes.

Responsibilities

• Produce products within specification at the extrusion line.
• Operate and maintain specified equipment for extrusion.
• Ensure proper materials are used and set screw and profile temperatures.
• Ensure proper water flow to extruders and temperature controllers.
• Set hot air oven temperatures and microwave profile.
• Set proper puller and drive speeds appropriate to design profile.
• Align and utilize proper equipment such as brushing machine and cooling trough.
• Set-up and operate traceability printer and operate Pixargus.
• Set-up, start, maintain, and properly secure in-line coating applications.
• Set-up and string sub-straight media as required and prepare proper packaging.
• Set-up, mix components (paint), maintain spray systems and quality standards with minimal scrap.
• Change gun components as required and maintain spray fluid levels.
• Clean the entire system and replace hoses as needed.
• Maintain, clean, assemble, and disassemble dies properly.
• Ensure extrusion line runs with minimal scrap levels and startup and die changes run smoothly and timely.
• Assist in screw changes and help the Extrusion Operator and Extrusion Rubber Feeder at all times.
• PE weld, set-up plasma unit, and mix and apply flock glue.
• Know all aspects of the flocking machine including set-up, operating, filling, and cleaning.
• Inspect and pack flocked profile and conduct on-line flock testing.
