About The Position

The Extruding Compounding Operator at West Pharmaceutical Services is responsible for accurately preparing and weighing raw materials to create compounded materials for various products. This role requires quick thinking and confidence to ensure consistent processing and to anticipate the next tasks needed in the production process.

Requirements

• Ability to read a ruler and convert fractions to decimals.
• Experience operating forklifts and material handling devices.
• Knowledge of quality control and production documentation processes.

Responsibilities

• Retrieve approved ingredients for product formulations and document the ingredients used.
• Prepare, identify, and deliver approved ingredients to each stage of the production process using necessary measuring devices.
• Operate mixing equipment, extruder, cutter, calendar, and other auxiliary equipment for forming and shaping materials.
• Monitor dimensions using measuring equipment and micrometers, as well as computer-generated dimensions.
• Assemble required materials according to specific product formulations using forklifts or other material handling devices.
• Operate equipment to mix, form, shape, and cut prepared materials for further processing.
• Document formulas that do not meet specifications and complete necessary quality control and production forms.
• Assist and train new employees in the compounding area as needed.
• Inform the Compounding Supervisor of any issues or off-standard work.
• Set up Dispersion Enhanced Systems (DES) and maintain traceability for all formulations.
• Load recipes and set up extruders while maintaining correct specifications.
• Troubleshoot equipment-related issues affecting production.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the compounding area and equipment.
