The Extruder Operator is responsible and accountable for assuring all formulas are manufactured according to Quality and Food Safety specifications and QMP standards in support of the Company's Quality and Food Safety principles. The position involves coordinating all processing area activities in a safe, food safe, and efficient manner in alignment with shift, area, and plant goals. The operator performs all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or area, operates equipment safely and efficiently, and takes corrective actions to solve problems to root cause level. They assess equipment operating reliability, perform routine repairs, and maintain accurate records of QC checks and production numbers. The role also includes performing QC tasks and demonstrating a high degree of ownership for product quality.

  • Is the main point of contact for all resources in the processing area of the plant.
  • Coordinates all processing area activities in a safe, food safe, and efficient manner.
  • Performs all assigned activities and job tasks within a line or area.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Takes corrective actions in solving problems to root cause level.
  • Assesses equipment operating reliability and performs routine repairs.
  • Maintains accurate records of QC checks, production numbers, or waste performance.
  • Performs all shift support documentation in a quality manner.
  • Performs QC tasks such as magnet checks, inspection of date codes, and equipment attributes.
  • Demonstrates high degree of ownership for product quality.
  • Understands production schedules, production computer systems, work instructions, and production inventories.
  • Demonstrates a quality culture in actions, words, and spirit.
  • Assures the process equipment and all supporting processes are in compliance with Q&FS, QMP, and performance objectives.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent education.
  • Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules.
  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Working knowledge of Safety, Quality and Material Management Systems and procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand the daily production run schedule.
  • Ability to communicate to managers and team members any production, quality/food safety or other business critical information.
  • Successful completion of a substance screening and background check.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing experience operating a variety of machines.
  • 2 years of work experience within manufacturing, or a technical and/or trade discipline.
  • Working Knowledge of food safety, GMP, GHOP, HACCP, SPC.
  • Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email.
  • Knowledge of inventory control principles.
  • Ability to operate a forklift/OSHA certification.
  • Previous Extruding operations experience.
