About The Position

The position involves managing extrusion machine(s) with diameters ranging from 1 inch to 3 inches, which have 4 to 8 heat zones, to extrude a poly plastic coat continuously over wire. The operator is responsible for verifying and testing all wire and cable using calipers and cutters, determining the correct outer diameter, wall thickness, conductor gauge, and ensuring the wire/conductor is centered. The operator must also verify that the proper label is on each spool and that the coding is printed correctly on the jacket, ensuring that the label matches the traveler and is placed on the correct reel size. Additionally, the operator will work with and periodically cross-train an Extruder Assistant, assist in the Extrusion Assistant position when needed, and adhere to all palletizing procedures when applicable. Quality assurance and verification are priorities for the Primary Extruder Operator, who will complete any and all other duties requested or assigned.
