About The Position

Summary of the Role: The Extraction Technician is responsible for supporting the processing, extraction, and production of cannabis products in the laboratory while adhering to all state regulations and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role plays a critical part in the seed-to-sale production chain, serving as a bridge between cultivation, extraction, and finished product packaging. The Extraction Technician supports manufacturing activities with speed, quality, and accuracy and is responsible for equipment operation and maintenance, inventory management, recordkeeping, and quality control throughout the production process to ensure all products meet established quality and compliance standards.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age to work within the OH MMCP
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of cannabis, extraction, and infused product manufacturing
  • Support day-to-day production activities in the Extraction Lab, including equipment setup, operation, and breakdown
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety policies, and state medical marijuana regulations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment, tools, and work surfaces
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing production environment
  • Assist in all phases of the extraction process, including material preparation, extraction, post-processing, and product finishing
  • Operate laboratory instruments and extraction equipment under approved procedures and supervision as required
  • Monitor extraction processes, record operational data, and report results to supervisory staff
  • Prepare biomass and other materials for extraction, ensuring proper labeling, batch tracking, and inventory control
  • Support winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation (rotovap), and distillation processes, including solvent handling and temperature monitoring in accordance with SOPs
  • Assist with pre-processing, post-processing, and packaging functions, including filling, labeling, and pack-out of finished products
  • Conduct routine quality checks to ensure all processes and products meet laboratory and quality assurance standards
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and logbooks for extractions, production batches, inventory, and equipment use
  • Adhere to the lab safety plan/manual and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements
  • Identify and immediately report deviations, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to supervisory staff
  • Ensure laboratory operations remain compliant at all times
  • Maintain and update chemical, ingredient, and packaging inventories
  • Perform clerical and documentation duties related to extraction and concentrate laboratory operations
  • Support traceability and seed-to-sale compliance through accurate recordkeeping
  • Work cross-functionally to maintain exemplary standards of cleanliness, organization, functionality, safety, and security throughout the facility
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient, compliant operations
