About the position

The Extraction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the extraction processes involved in producing cannabis-based products. This position requires in-depth knowledge of extraction techniques, equipment, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance in the cannabis industry. The supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe production of high-quality cannabis extracts.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a team of extraction technicians to ensure that the extraction processes are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Continuously improve extraction methods and techniques to maximize product yield and quality while minimizing waste and cost.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of extraction equipment, ensuring that it is properly calibrated, cleaned, and functioning optimally.
  • Ensure that all extraction activities adhere to local and state regulations, including tracking and reporting requirements.
  • Implement quality control measures to guarantee the consistency and purity of the final product, including testing and analysis of extracts.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect employees from potential hazards associated with extraction, including the use of proper protective gear, and handling hazardous materials.
  • Maintain detailed records of all extraction activities, batch records, and equipment maintenance logs.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to ensure smooth production.
  • Train and develop extraction technicians, ensuring that they are well-versed in extraction techniques, safety procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Provide regular reports on production, quality, and safety metrics to higher management.
  • Stay updated on the latest industry trends, extraction techniques, and equipment to enhance product quality and process efficiency.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of customer service, distribution, or warehouse experience
  • Proficient knowledge of various extraction methods, including but not limited to CO2, ethanol, hydrocarbon, and solventless techniques.
  • Understanding of local and state regulations pertaining to cannabis extraction.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Knowledge of laboratory equipment and analytical techniques used in cannabis extraction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Proficiency with relevant software for inventory management and documentation.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Flexibility in work hours and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
  • Well organized and ability to keep deadlines
  • Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task
  • Basic Excel, Word, and general computer knowledge
  • Experience working in a shifting environment with a great deal of constructive feedback and input
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Physical demands - May be required to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (200 pounds with assistance)
