Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related field of study from accredited college or university; will consider a combination of experience and/or education.
  • Ideally, 5+ years in communications, media relations, or stakeholder‑facing engagement roles with crisis response responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, including field work with community engagements and crisis‑related assignments.
  • Strong digital communications skills, including social media.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to work with senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
  • Commitment to consistently adhere to policies and procedures and be a positive example for others by demonstrating the Company’s core values of Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence in completing work assignments.
  • Self-motivated, have phenomenal work ethic and looking for the right company to support your growth.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably 7+ years of experience in communications and engagement within highly regulated industries; energy sector experience a plus.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities (AP Style proficiency).
  • Strong public speaking and presentation capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office.
  • Strategic thinker with robust analytical and project management skills.
  • Creative, agile, and comfortable working under tight deadlines.
  • Natural relationship‑builder with strong stakeholder engagement instincts.

Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic external communications plans that position and protect the company with media, regulators, customers, public officials, and community partners.
  • Research, write, and edit high‑impact content for digital and traditional channels, including social media, presentations, publications, videos, and web content.
  • Partner across business units (Leadership, Government Affairs, Legal, Operations) to deliver consistent, targeted messaging.
  • Manage the company’s website and social media channels to ensure timely, engaging, reputation‑supporting content.
  • Serve as the company’s primary Public Information Officer (PIO).
  • Support execution of crisis communications and emergency response strategies.
  • Coordinate with external communications partners during crises.
  • Track media and stakeholder sentiment and provide insights that shape communication strategies.
  • Lead the Charitable Contributions Committee, evaluating requests and guiding community partnerships.
  • Build meaningful relationships with community organizations and leaders.
  • Organize and participate in community outreach events, maximizing employee engagement.
  • Support Public Awareness Program initiatives, including materials development, stakeholder communications, and first responder engagement.
