About The Position

The External Communication Specialist is responsible for enhancing the IMRF brand through strategic external communication efforts. This role involves developing and executing communication strategies that align with business priorities, providing counsel to business leaders, and utilizing various communication channels to inform members and employers effectively. The position allows for remote work flexibility after six months of service.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • At least 3 years of external communications experience.
  • Experience executing communications tasks and developing strategies.
  • Experience working directly with executives on external communications.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Experience using email-marketing tools.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, email-marketing software, and video-editing software.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment with internal customers.
  • Ability to manage complex communications projects with numerous stakeholders and deadlines.
  • Self-starter able to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Deadline driven and able to multitask.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Improve and execute IMRF's External Communications Strategy.
  • Develop communication plans aligned with organizational goals and measure their impact.
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders for communicating with members and employers.
  • Design, write, and deliver communications targeting members and employers.
  • Manage editorial calendars and coordinate content review and distribution.
  • Script and create short videos to educate and build the brand.
  • Support the marketing and delivery of webinars featuring the Executive Director.
  • Facilitate Communications' role in the Trustee election process.
  • Serve as a liaison for endorsed-insurance offerings.
  • Partner with Digital Communication Specialist for quarterly employer surveys.
