The Exterior Systems Design & Release Engineer is responsible to design, develop, validate and release parts (Fixed Glass, Wipers and Washers Systems, leafscreens) under their responsibility for the assigned programs. Look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization. Design parts to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the Engineering Specifications and Systems Design specifications as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements. The engineer is also responsible for parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering (BSME, Mechatronics / Robotics Engineering) or similar.
  • 1+ year of experience in development of automotive body exterior systems in an engineering role.

  • Ability to deliver on time by planning tasks, leading co-workers pro-actively finding solutions.
  • 3D CAD knowledge TCE / CATIA ability to create simple concepts, sections, part manipulation.
  • Microsoft Office management (Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Basic knowledge of materials engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance and timing targets (Waterfall process).
  • Understand GPDS (Global Product Development System) and create plans to deliver on time.
  • Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Failure Mode Avoidance Tools).
  • Knowledge and application of six sigma and 8D (Green Belt).
  • Develop ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work), EC (Engineering concepts) and participate in the Sourcing Process (SOBA, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA).
  • Actively participate in the Technical Design Reviews.
  • Release parts in AVBOM and WERS through the product life cycle.
  • Support the Change Control Meeting.
  • Audit and update BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.
  • Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly.
  • Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per SDS & ES. (DVP / eFDVS).
  • Leverage AIMS root cause analysis and permanent actions implementation.
  • Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level.
  • Parts implementation/Sign-off at assembly plant & assistance with quality issues in all milestones.
  • PDL's revisions and proceed accordingly if affected.
  • Support VQR's, VRT's and PVT, as required.
  • Collaborate with STA with technical assistance through the Supplier Engagement Process
  • Deliver by applying the One Ford Behaviors.
  • Travel to North America & Ford of Mexico plants when required to support launch.
