About The Position

The Extension Weed Science Specialist is a non-tenure-track position focused on developing and implementing a weed management program for agronomic crops and pasture environments in South Carolina. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to address weed management challenges and enhance agricultural productivity. The position is a 12-month appointment with a 100% Extension focus, starting on January 1, 2025.

Requirements

• Doctoral / Professional Degree in Weed/Crop Science or related field.
• 3+ years of work experience in Extension in the area of weed science at a land-grant university.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a statewide weed science program plan of work.
• Collaborate with subject experts, agents, and volunteers to deliver new weed science programming and resources.
• Establish yourself as a content expert at the National level by producing scholarly outputs and products that support weed science.
• Serve as a resource to Extension agents and clientele in the area of weed management.
• Collaborate with Agriculture team members and state and federal agencies to develop and implement a weed science program.
• Attend or lead Extension team meetings and trainings as assigned.
