About The Position
The Agricultural Education Specialist is responsible for providing leadership, overseeing our statewide recruitment efforts, and promoting agricultural education and NY secondary teacher certification pathways. This role will work directly with secondary and post-secondary students, educators, and administrators to promote the advancement of agricultural education within the state and promote agricultural education teaching career opportunities to a wide range of traditional and non-traditional audiences. The specialist is part of the New York Agricultural Education Outreach team and will be responsible for educator support, statewide initiatives, and programming support. They will provide initial and ongoing support to new teachers and develop resources for developing agricultural education programs in communities of all backgrounds. This position will spend significant time providing support for NY's agricultural educator recruitment and retention initiatives as well as handle logistics for conferences and other events as assigned. This Agricultural Education Specialist will serve individuals and school communities with diverse races, ethnicities, socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and more to promote and adapt agricultural education in all schools in our state. This position is a full-time, remote position with moderate travel required throughout New York State and occasional out-of-state conferences. This is a one-year appointment with possible extension depending on funding and performance.
