About The Position

The Extension Specialist for Integrated Health Disparities at the University of Illinois Extension is a full-time academic professional responsible for planning, developing, and implementing community health education content and resources. This role focuses on addressing health inequities through educational programs and collaboration with community organizations, healthcare providers, and government agencies. The specialist will lead project management efforts, support the training of new team members, and ensure effective communication and outreach strategies to promote health equity across diverse populations in Illinois.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in health education, health communication, public health, information systems, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in Health Disparities or a closely related field.
  • Experience in information science and proficiency in various communication digital platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish, tailored to diverse communities.
  • Experience in marketing and advertising related to health education or public health communication.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks and timelines while maintaining high-quality work.
  • Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds and community-based education.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned Doctoral Degree in Information Systems or related field.
  • Experience in programming and service delivery with curriculum development.
  • Expertise in quality data collection, evaluation, and reporting.
  • A valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement community health education content and curriculum for integrated health education programs.
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop innovative curricula to enhance learner engagement.
  • Oversee training and adaptation of signature programs related to health disparities.
  • Serve as a liaison with the MarCom Language Access Team and the DEIA Assistant Director.
  • Lead project planning activities, including developing plans and project financials.
  • Track, analyze, and report on project expenditures against the budget.
  • Develop new funding and collaboration opportunities through networking.
  • Compile and summarize project information and trends using reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with IHD and University groups to improve project management policies and practices.
  • Guide and assist the professional development of Educators and volunteers.
