About The Position

The Extension Specialist in Farm Management will collaborate with regional, county, and state Extension staff to develop and implement educational programs focused on farm and financial management, small rural agriculture-related business analysis, and marketing. This role involves delivering workshops, seminars, and direct counseling to farm families and small businesses, while also securing funding and reporting on program impacts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field.
• Master's degree in Agricultural Economics (Farm Management) or a closely related field.
• Experience in agricultural economics, farm management, or agricultural finance is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with regional, county, and state Extension staff to plan and implement educational programs in farm and financial management.
• Deliver programs through workshops, meetings, seminars, and direct counseling with farm families and small rural businesses.
• Teach planning, decision-making, marketing, and feasibility analysis for farm and rural small agricultural-related businesses.
• Develop effective Extension educational programs utilizing various teaching methods.
• Maintain relationships with Regional Agriculture and Natural Resources Leaders and state staff to support the Extension education program.
• Secure extramural funds through grants and fee-based programs.
• Report program accomplishments and impacts in a timely manner to the UT Extension reporting system.
• Provide leadership for activities that meet the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of background.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
