About The Position

The Extension Program Specialist II will provide leadership to planning and implementation of educational outreach programs in support of county-based staff; Prepare subject matter training and educational resource materials to address needs of limited resource clientele. This position is funded by restricted funds or a grant. Continued employment is contingent upon the renewal of restricted or grant funds. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Master Degree in applicable field.
  • Five years of related professional experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop and implement training programs for use by county staff in providing health and chronic illness programming for clientele
  • Analyze and interpret trends and other appropriate situational information and disseminate it for use by 1890 county personnel and committees in planning programs to meet local needs
  • Assist with the development of in-depth educational programs to solve significant problems and meet long-range objectives.
  • Develop and prepare teaching materials, e.g. publications, leaflets, and other informational materials in support of the Family & Community Health program area, interprets and disseminate relevant educational information from current applicable research findings, demographics and economics and public policy.
  • Interpret and disseminate relevant educational information from current applicable research findings, demographic and economic data and public policy.
  • Develop comprehensive model plans which address base programs, critical issues and clientele needs.
  • Assist with development of evaluations instruments to measure program effectiveness.
  • Develop and provide educational documents, newsletters, fact sheets, curriculum, PowerPoint presentations, and videos, to support county agents in-depth and outreach plans.
  • Travel to selected counties to provide technical assistance and training for agents and volunteers.
  • Attend headquarters staff conferences, program area conference calls and Unit staff meetings.
  • Attend district program planning conferences and training in support of county agents.
  • Participate and present at professional development conferences and meetings at the state and national level.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals in support of program goals and objectives.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with co-workers, supervisors and clientele.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
