About The Position

OEE invites applications for an Extension Program Coordinator, Agriculture, Livestock & Natural Resources. This is a full-time, twelve (12) month, administrative professional position. Program coordinating responsibilities include agriculture, natural resources, livestock, 4-H Youth Development and other Extension programming. This position serves as a subject-matter resource for agricultural production, livestock systems, rangeland management, and small-acreage stewardship. The Program Coordinator works collaboratively with the San Miguel Basin Extension Director to coordinate research-based educational programming that strengthens agricultural resilience, supports producers and landowners, and enhances community capacity. The position emphasizes applied education, direct technical assistance, and emergency response preparedness. This position reports to the San Miguel Basin Extension Director and collaborates with CSU Extension faculty and specialists statewide, Conservation Districts, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), and community partners. While this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, the individual in this position is expected to maintain a balance establishing a presence in the primary office, to effectively carry out the duties of the position. The work schedule will vary, and occasional nights and weekend work will be necessary. Requirements

• An associate’s degree or higher in agriculture, animal science, natural resources, rangeland management, agronomy, Extension education, or a closely related field.
• Coursework or professional experience relevant to the job duties.
• Coursework and/or professional experience must provide a broad and significant understanding of agriculture and natural resources associated with position.
• Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for new hires).
• Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
• The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; Extension will not sponsor a visa for this position.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, animal science, natural resources, rangeland management, agronomy, Extension education, or a closely related field.
• Professional experience with livestock production systems, rangeland ecology, grazing planning, forage and soil systems, small-acreage management, irrigation and water-use efficiency, and agricultural emergency response.
• Experience or coursework in audience-needs identification, program development, experiential learning and program evaluation.
• Experience providing education to adult, volunteer, and/or youth audiences.
• Experience working with community partners, committees, or advisory groups.
• Strong communication skills, including public speaking and use of digital education platforms.
• Ability to speak Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Program Education and Technical Assistance Identify local educational needs through direct engagement with agricultural producers, landowners, agency partners, and community stakeholders.
• Assist the San Miguel Basin Extension Director to deliver research-based educational programs in agriculture, livestock systems, rangeland management, forage and soil systems, water management and drought resilience, and small-acreage stewardship.
• Provide technical assistance through site visits, consultations, workshops, demonstrations, and field days.
• Support livestock and animal science education within the local 4-H program in collaboration with the San Miguel Basin Extension Director and other Extension staff.
• Program Implementation, and Fiscal Management Manage/coordinate educational programming.
• Collaborate with community-based organizations, agencies, and constituents representative of the county’s demographic composition to assess community needs and support existing and emerging program efforts.
• Identify and pursue program resources, including grants, contracts, sponsorships, in-kind contributions, and cost-recovery fees, to enhance and sustain programming.
• Manage program budgets and funds in accordance with CSU Extension and county fiscal policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.
• Partnership Development, Coordination, and Community Relations Communicate and coordinate educational resources, research, and programming with CSU faculty and staff, county partners, and external organizations.
• Develop and maintain strong, working relationships with Extension colleagues, CSU faculty, local and county agencies, community leaders, advisory groups, and private industry partners to address priority community needs.
• Work with advisory groups and Extension Specialists across counties to assess educational needs, develop and revise plans of work, implement educational strategies, and evaluate and report program impacts.
• Maintain a productive working relationship with the Board of County Commissioners, including responding to requests for consultation, applied research, and technical assistance.
• Facilitate public dialogue and provide conflict resolution or mediation support as appropriate.
• Travel to and participate in meetings, trainings, professional development opportunities, and Extension-related events, including occasional overnight travel.
