About The Position

The Extension Educators Coordinator 4/Farm Business Analysis Technician will promote, support, and implement the work of the Ohio Farm Business Analysis Program; work closely with the Program Manager, County Extension Agriculture Educators, and with Ohio farmers to collect financial and production data; use data to complete annual financial analyses, meeting prescribed standards of accuracy. During the data collection process the technician will help educate farmers about balance sheet, cash flow, income statement, and crop/livestock enterprise composition, data assembly, and allocation. Technicians will plan and schedule farm business analysis and program work; review and prepare analyses for inclusion in the Ohio database and summary; participate in annual data review meetings; gather, organize, and maintain information and communications with farmer clients; assist in evaluating the program with identified target audiences; participate in initial and ongoing training to develop farm business analysis skills using FINPACK software, learn Ohio procedures, and learn data handling methods to ensure consistency across Ohio. Additionally, the technicians will promote the Farm Business Analysis Program to farmer and industry audiences and recruit farm participants in both one-on-one and group settings. This is an intermittent part-time position. Work will occur primarily from January through June. Hours will vary depending on availability of farm data.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Certification or vocational training may be required.
  • Associate degree in relevant field may be preferred.
  • 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • 6 or more years of relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities
