About The Position

The Division of Nutritional Sciences (DNS) at Cornell University is seeking an Extension Associate/Senior Extension Associate and Associate Director of Community Nutrition based in New York City. This role is pivotal in collaborating with the Food and Nutrition Education in Communities (FNEC) Director, the FNEC Associate Director of Upstate Nutrition Partnerships and Programs, and the Associate Director of the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and enhancing the New York State EFNEP and other programs aimed at promoting healthy eating and physical activity among limited resource audiences. As the Nutrition and Health Program Leader within Cornell University Cooperative Extension-New York City (CUCE-NYC), the individual will work closely with a team of extension and research associates, support specialists, faculty, and other state and county extension staff to ensure quality programming statewide and optimal engagement with NYC residents. The DNS is one of the largest academic units in the U.S. dedicated to human nutrition, characterized by its multi-disciplinary faculty. The division's scholarly activities encompass research, education, and outreach, integrating knowledge across various scientific domains to address critical questions related to nutrition, health, food systems, and social and institutional environments. The FNEC serves as an outreach arm of DNS, leveraging research faculty to provide evidence-informed programming in nutrition. In this role, the Extension Associate/Senior Extension Associate will provide leadership to CUCE-NYC's Nutrition and Health Program, fostering community partnerships and promoting excellence in urban extension efforts. The position requires a commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as the ability to build relationships with clients and partners from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will also be responsible for overseeing the development of audience-specific curricula and resources, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and contributing to the integration of positive youth development research into nutrition education activities.
