About The Position

The Extension Agent for Fayette County focuses on delivering Agriculture and Natural Resources programs, alongside 4-H Youth Development initiatives. This role involves planning, executing, and evaluating programs to meet the needs of the community, while also providing educational resources and support to volunteers and stakeholders. The position requires collaboration with various organizations and maintaining up-to-date knowledge in the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, or closely related field is required.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale, or 3.0 during senior year, or a Master's degree is required.
  • Preference for applicants with a Master's degree and/or work experience in a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in community outreach and engagement.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and fundraising.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate Agriculture and Natural Resources programs (75%) and 4-H Youth Development programs (25%).
  • Keep current on the latest research information in Agriculture and Natural Resources/4-H Youth Development.
  • Assume joint responsibility for all applicable projects, activities, shows, events, and committees related to ANR/4-H Youth Development.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders for the 4-H Youth Development and Agriculture programs.
  • Secure extramural funds to support Extension programs through grants, fee-based programs, and gifts.
  • Develop and maintain expertise about issues important to ANR/4-H Youth Development in the county.
  • Cooperate with staff to promote the total Extension program.
  • Develop a network of relationships with key stakeholders and organizations pertinent to Extension programs in the county.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting of program accomplishments and impacts into the UT Extension reporting system.
  • Provide leadership for activities that meet the needs of all eligible clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion, or veteran status.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
