The 4-H Extension Agent will be located in Gaston County and will be responsible for leading the local 4-H program and managing its day-to-day operations. The 4-H program is a dynamic community that fosters leadership, citizenship, and life skills among young people, with a particular emphasis on serving limited-resource youth in alignment with the National 4-H Council and Cooperative Extension at N.C. A&T. The 4-H Extension Agent holds primary responsibility for planning, executing, and evaluating effective and comprehensive 4-H programs that address the needs of the county population. The agent will: Collaborate with county and community-based organizations to deliver programs and recruit participants. Determine program needs and priorities by conducting needs assessments. Evaluate program impacts using data collected from advisory committee members, county residents, and program participants. These programs will focus on developing leadership and workforce skills in youth through organized 4-H clubs, special interest youth programs, 4-H projects, after-school programs, summer day camps, school enrichment programs, and other established delivery methods. Guided by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service, the 4-H Extension Agent will actively engage diverse communities, with a focus on limited-resource audiences, to ensure inclusive and impactful programming. By leveraging available resources, the agent will develop initiatives that expand opportunities for youth while strengthening the 4-H program in Gaston County.
