About The Position

The position is for a Teacher Special Education at Sahuarita Primary School, responsible for developing and implementing a curriculum program consistent with district educational goals and objectives. The teacher will serve as a case manager for inclusion students, coordinating the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and maintaining accurate records. The role involves organizing a Special Education team, monitoring student behavior, and creating a safe and respectful classroom environment. The teacher will assess student needs, develop lesson plans, and work closely with parents and families.

Requirements

• Valid Arizona teaching certification with a Special Education Endorsement.
• Highly Qualified status as defined by Federal Standards.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets minimum qualifications.
• Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

• Serve as case manager responsible for coordinating the development, monitoring, and implementation of inclusion student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).
• Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assigned students.
• Organize a Special Education team to discuss, change and/or modify IEPs as necessary.
• Observe and monitor control of students' behavior in various settings.
• Establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere that ensures emotional and physical safety.
• Assess student needs and develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans.
• Utilize classroom management techniques to maintain organization and safety.
• Evaluate written materials and analyze student progress.
• Develop instructional plans for assigned students and work with Special Education Paraprofessional.
• Assist regular education teachers with modifications for inclusion students.
• Provide information, support, and communication with parents and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
