About The Position

The Extended Learning Coordinator is a 12-month staff position that will support all of the programs under the Extended Learning umbrella on the San Mateo campus. These programs are primarily non-school-day/school-year opportunities for 9-12th grade students to engage in learning outside of the curriculum. Many of these programs are run in partnership with the parent association and most rely on partnering with community members outside of our faculty. The Extended Learning Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Extended Learning to spearhead these programs and ensure their success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, families, faculty, administrators, and external partners.

  • Experience with or willingness to learn program management platforms such as Airtable, Sched, CampBrain, Sawyer, or similar tools.
  • Experience working with high school students and an understanding of adolescent development.

Responsibilities

  • Recruiting and marketing internship opportunities in collaboration with the parent community.
  • Representing Nueva in partnerships with employers to develop meaningful summer work experiences for students.
  • Maintaining the internship database and program website(s).
  • Coaching students in professional skills, including LinkedIn profile development, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, email communication, decision-making, and workplace etiquette.
  • Administering the internship application process and advising more than 150 students annually.
  • Ensuring completion and filing of all required government documentation.
  • Developing and implementing the annual, division-wide Internship Expo to celebrate student interns and promote opportunities for the following year.
  • Coordinating with internal programs and departments to strengthen and sustain community partnerships.
  • Designing and implementing dedicated service learning programs in partnership with local organizations.
  • Liaising with the Extended Learning Coordinator at the Hillsborough campus on a regular basis to align and optimize the community service learning program.
  • Coordinating community service learning programming with the upper school leadership team (including grade level Deans where appropriate).
  • Balancing the needs of students, faculty, and community partners to create meaningful service experiences.
  • Providing ongoing support for service-related activities.
  • Advising and supporting student-led service clubs throughout the year.
  • Managing High School Teaching Assistants (TAs) for Nueva’s Summer Camp program.
  • Assisting the Director of Extended Learning with the annual Intersession program as needed.
  • Collaborating with the Parent Association to recruit volunteers.
  • Liaising with the Operations team.
  • Supporting program management platforms such as Sched, Airtable, and CampBrain.
  • Participating in Advisory programs.
  • Chaperoning school trips.
  • Other duties as assigned.
