About The Position

St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School is seeking a caring, responsible, and enthusiastic individuals to join our Extended Day After-School Program team. The Extended Day Program Assistant will supervise and engage students in a safe, nurturing environment during after-school hours. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with young children and are committed to supporting their development in a faith-based educational setting. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Part-Time, Hourly Position) Grade Levels: Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd Grade

Requirements

  • Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
  • Ability to manage groups of children with patience and care.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn the PikMyKid dismissal system.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work the full scheduled hours.
  • Must comply with background check and fingerprinting to meet diocesan requirements for working with children.
  • Must have Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be Fingerprinted (Diocesan Requirement as of August 1, 2025)
  • Must consent to a Criminal Background Check
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 25 pounds (emergency situations)
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (alarms/emergency situations)
  • Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • This position requires a Pre-Employment Declaration.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR or First Aid training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety of students in PreK through 2nd grade during after-school hours.
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities including games, crafts, and quiet time.
  • Assist with snack distribution and clean-up.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful environment aligned with the school’s Catholic values.
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn the PikMyKid dismissal system.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and school administration.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and incident records as required.
  • Support students with homework or quiet reading time as needed.
  • Ensure all materials and spaces are cleaned and organized at the end of each day.
