Our Extended Day program provides campers with a positive, well-supervised afternoon experience, and we are seeking a dependable, energetic leader to oversee programming, staff, and camper transitions during the end of the camp day. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on leadership, working with children, and managing afternoon programming in a fast-paced camp environment. Your Role as Extended Day Director: The Extended Day Director is responsible for overseeing the after-camp program , ensuring campers are engaged in age-appropriate activities and safely dismissed to caregivers. This role supervises Extended Day staff, manages afternoon logistics, communicates with families, and maintains a clean, organized camp environment. The Extended Day Director works closely with the Site Director and may assume Health Director responsibilities when the designated Health Director is off-site.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 25 years old
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Available to work Mid-June through Mid-August , Monday–Friday

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a camp or educational setting
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage staff and multiple responsibilities independently
  • Enthusiasm for working with children in a structured, fun environment
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing daily needs

Responsibilities

  • Collect campers from their groups
  • Implement and follow the daily Extended Day schedule
  • Develop and lead age-appropriate activities for campers ages 4–9
  • Supervise and support Extended Day teachers and staff
  • Prepare and provide afternoon snacks
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of camp spaces during Extended Day
  • Take and upload photos to the camp photo-sharing platform
  • Assist with creating the weekly Extended Day staff schedule
  • Communicate with lead teachers regarding camper notes
  • Sign campers out to caregivers and share relevant updates from the day
  • Answer phone calls and relay messages to appropriate directors
  • Take notes as needed and share with camp leadership
  • Assume Health Director responsibilities once the Health Director is off-site
  • Ensure camper safety and follow all camp policies and procedures
  • Add supplies to the “Need to Order” list as necessary
