About The Position

Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital and start-up joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services. In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit. Expressive Arts Therapists are responsible for completing the following duties and tasks: Consistently engages and interacts with our patients and their families by using the treatment principles of Trauma Responsive Care, as demonstrated by the following: A basic recognition of the characteristic symptoms resulting from exposure to trauma, 2. Having an understanding of and sensitivity to the triggers of trauma and trauma re-enactment, 3. Incorporating relevant skill sets into daily interactions with patients and families, and 4. Requirements

  • Licensure: Masters level Music Therapy and Recreational Therapy preferred. Registered and /or Board Certified Art Therapy or Registered Dance Movement therapy preferred.
  • Education: Master’s Degree in Art Therapy or Dance Movement. Bachelor’s Degree with Board Certification in Music Therapy or Recreational Therapy.
  • Ability to work weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement expressive therapy treatment plans that are age appropriate, and consistent with overall treatment goals.
  • Facilitates patient groups that are well prepared and beneficial to clients.
  • Maintain the clinical and administrative documentation associated with performed services.
  • Consistently engages and interacts with our patients and their families by using the treatment principles of Trauma Responsive Care, as demonstrated by the following: A basic recognition of the characteristic symptoms resulting from exposure to trauma, 2. Having an understanding of and sensitivity to the triggers of trauma and trauma re-enactment, 3. Incorporating relevant skill sets into daily interactions with patients and families, and 4.   • Effectively contribute to treatment planning of patients.
  • Effectively contribute to discharge planning of patients.
