About The Position

The Express Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact for customers utilizing the dealership's express or quick service lane. This role is responsible for greeting customers, writing repair orders for routine maintenance services, communicating service recommendations, coordinating workflow with technicians, and ensuring a positive, efficient customer experience. The Express Advisor plays a critical role in customer retention, service department productivity, and dealership profitability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous automotive service advisor, express advisor, or customer service experience preferred
  • Basic automotive knowledge and understanding of routine maintenance services
  • Strong customer service, communication, and sales skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple customers simultaneously
  • Proficiency with computers and dealership management systems (or ability to learn quickly)
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including Saturdays as required

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers promptly and professionally upon arrival in the express service lane
  • Conduct a preliminary vehicle walk-around and verify customer concerns and service needs
  • Write and process repair orders for express services such as oil changes, tire rotations, inspections, filters, batteries, and minor maintenance
  • Accurately explain recommended services, pricing, and time estimates to customers
  • Upsell maintenance services based on manufacturer recommendations and vehicle condition
  • Communicate effectively with express technicians regarding work scope and priority
  • Monitor repair order status and keep customers informed of service progress and delays
  • Review completed work with customers, explain services performed, and answer questions
  • Collect payment and ensure repair orders are closed accurately and timely
  • Maintain proper documentation in the dealership management system (DMS)
  • Promote dealership service specials, maintenance plans, and customer retention programs
  • Adhere to dealership policies, safety procedures, and manufacturer standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
  • Support overall service department operations as needed
