About The Position

The Export Transloading Mechanic position at JBS, based on site in Charleston, North Carolina, is responsible for safely and efficiently performing troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and all duties associated with maintaining transload equipment and facility operations. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical components, testing equipment, and working collaboratively with production team members to support a smooth workflow. The role involves repairing and maintaining all aspects of the transload facility, with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and occasional weekend shifts as required. On-call duties are also expected, and all identified issues must be addressed before the end of each shift.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment
  • General knowledge of welding and fabrication
  • General knowledge of both low and high voltage electrical
  • Ability to work overtime, including holidays, nights, and weekend shifts
  • Willing and able to stand for several hours
  • Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions, which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with use of PPE
  • Ability to work in elevated areas
  • Ability to perform physical duties, including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodations

  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations . Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and test mechanical equipment, machinery, and components.
  • Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts to ensure timely repairs and minimize downtime.
  • Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments efficiently and accurately.
  • Interpret equipment drawings to properly adjust, maintain, or repair machinery according to specifications.
  • Respond promptly to requests from the production area when mechanical issues with equipment are identified.
  • Communicate effectively with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and determine potential mechanical solutions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment longevity and reduce unexpected failures.
  • Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, maintaining high standards of time and resource management.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support overall operations.
  • Operate forklifts, loaders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts safely and in compliance with company policies.
