Position Summary The Export Shipper is responsible for coordinating and executing international shipments in compliance with export regulations and company procedures. This role ensures accurate preparation of export documentation, proper handling of hazardous materials, and effective communication with freight forwarders to facilitate timely and compliant shipments. This position does not include export licensing or Global Trade Compliance (GTC) responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in export shipping, logistics, or international transportation
  • Strong working knowledge of export documentation and AES filing requirements
  • Experience working with freight forwarders and international carriers
  • Familiarity with hazardous materials shipping regulations (IATA/IMDG preferred)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience shipping hazardous goods such as lithium batteries
  • Knowledge of international shipping best practices and country-specific requirements
  • Prior experience in a regulated industry (life sciences, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Associate’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Relevant work experience in export shipping, logistics, or international transportation may be considered in lieu of formal education

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process all required export documentation, including but not limited to: Commercial Invoices (CI) Shipper’s Letter of Instruction (SLI) Certificates of Origin (COO) Certificates of Export and other supporting documents
  • Complete and submit AES (Automated Export System) filings accurately and in a timely manner
  • Coordinate and schedule international shipments with approved freight forwarders and carriers
  • Ensure shipments comply with all applicable export shipping requirements and regulations (excluding licensing/GTC scope)
  • Properly classify, package, label, and document hazardous materials shipments (e.g., lithium batteries) in accordance with IATA, IMDG, or other relevant standards
  • Verify accuracy of shipment details, including weights, dimensions, harmonized codes (if applicable), and destination requirements
  • Maintain shipment records and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams (warehouse, customer service, order management) to ensure shipment readiness and accuracy
  • Troubleshoot and resolve shipment issues, delays, or documentation discrepancies
