About The Position

Established Idaho produce grower/shipper/exporter with excellent quality product has an immediate need for an Export Sales professional who is currently working with the Mexico market. The role can be based in the office of the hiring company in Idaho or potentially remote based for an experienced “potato export salesperson”. This role will develop the Mexico markets for the company. Experience in dealing with these markets, as well as working through the export process is desired. Strong potato commodity knowledge is also desired, but other fresh produce commodities can work for this role. Position Responsibilities Include : Account development and management with customers in Mexico. Strong understanding of the nuances of these markets, quality preferences, payment, etc. Negotiating and writing export orders. Experience working through customs and all necessary paperwork for these markets. Maintaining consistent communication with all customers to manage market conditions, pricing, and quality components. Working with sales management on pricing and inventory to meet daily and seasonal sales expectations. Travel to visit customers, periodic visits to trade shows and possibly to production areas. Multi-task and conduct business in a fast-paced environment where teamwork is emphasized. Solid produce background and knowledge of potato growing regions, quality characteristics and issues, shelf life, shipping & handling characteristics, pack styles. Working within various market conditions, supply availability, quality levels. Working closely with Inspection / QA / QC personnel, cold storage & facilities personnel, logistics and shipping. Making sound shipping and sales decisions with management under various volume and quality variables.

Requirements

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • College degree (B.A., B.S.) in related fields of study or equivalent preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is mandatory.

  • Commodity / Category Management experience can also be helpful.
