Oyster Loft is seeking a strong, kitchen-oriented Expeditor to support service at a higher level than a traditional expo role. This position is integrated into kitchen operations and requires an understanding of food preparation, timing, and plate composition in addition to managing service flow. The Expeditor plays a key role in coordinating between the kitchen and front-of-house teams, assisting with final dish execution, and ensuring accuracy, presentation, and pacing throughout service. This position pays $17–$18 per hour depending on experience, plus tips. We provide full coverage for required Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) training and certification. Training time and certification costs are covered in accordance with company policy and California requirements. Employment is at-will in accordance with California law. Requirements

  • Previous experience as an expeditor or in a high-volume restaurant required
  • Some kitchen experience required
  • Understanding of kitchen workflow, timing, and plating standards
  • Strong communication and leadership presence during service
  • Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and consistency
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
  • Availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid California Food Handler Certification

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the flow of tickets from kitchen to service staff
  • Actively work with the kitchen to prioritize and pace orders during service
  • Assist with final plating, garnish, and dish organization before service
  • Check dishes for accuracy, presentation, and temperature before leaving the kitchen
  • Communicate clearly with both kitchen and front-of-house teams to maintain timing
  • Identify and resolve service bottlenecks in real time
  • Support kitchen operations as needed during service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the expo and pass area
  • Ensure standards are consistently met across all dishes leaving the kitchen
