The Expo/Food Runner is responsible for supporting the restaurant staff by delivering food and other items to guests in a professional, timely, and friendly manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Accountable for the accurate calling of chits (orders) to the kitchen, organization of prepared food, and delivery and description of all food items to guests while providing exceptional guest service. Communicate with all staff, including both kitchens and servers. Deliver food and items ordered by guests without delay, at the desired temperature, and in a highly presentable manner. Arrange the various food items properly on the table as per the seating plan. Clear the dishes as they are consumed. Carefully watch tables and fill water glasses and other drinks as appropriate. Interact with guests in a friendly and efficient manner; ensure guests’ complete satisfaction by exceeding their expectations – this includes ensuring the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided. Perform cleaning side work as assigned. Maintain complete knowledge of the restaurant’s food and beverage preparation and menu, with the ability to answer customer questions. Understand and follow the food allergy procedure and special orders/restrictions. Verifies that the food is correct based upon what the customer ordered and to customers’ satisfaction, if incorrect or unsatisfied notify the manager on duty. Assists with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
