TCS is seeking an experienced Technician to support equipment readiness, testing, and sustainment at NSWC Crane. This role requires a 50/50 blend of hands-on work with specialized test consoles and administrative tasks involving equipment readiness tracking and reporting. The successful candidate will collaborate with experienced equipment managers and calibration coordinators and should bring leadership, initiative, and a willingness to learn in a high-precision, mission-critical environment.

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot specialized engineering control/test consoles used for real-time monitoring, control, and data analysis.
  • Support full lifecycle of testing activities including pre-test setup, live fire execution, and post-test evaluation.
  • Execute preventative maintenance on electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Construct components, subunits, or adapt/modify existing equipment for specific testing purposes.
  • Update and maintain equipment tracking dashboards, including the Console Dashboard and MCMS (calibration system).
  • Participate in bi-weekly meetings and provide verbal updates on test console readiness.
  • Work closely with Equipment Manager and Calibration Coordinator to ensure availability and compliance of test gear.
  • Assist with diagnosing complex control system issues and coordinating repair solutions, either hands-on or via third-party sources.
  • Shadow senior personnel to gain deep technical familiarity with testing infrastructure.
  • Contribute to engineering change documentation and technical data deliverables as needed over time.
  • Maintain records related to calibration, certification, preventative maintenance, and readiness status.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or military experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with testing equipment, maintenance, or engineering support in a defense or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with test consoles or instrumentation/control systems strongly preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to pass explosive safety and handling training per NSACRANEINST 8020.1 and become certified as a Team Leader (TL).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage both hands-on technical tasks and documentation responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and readiness tracking tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and follow-through.
  • Be a self-starter who takes initiative to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Exhibit leadership traits and be comfortable giving verbal updates to stakeholders.
  • Work well in a fast-paced, team-driven environment with shifting priorities.
  • Be comfortable adapting to a range of tasks: from mechanical troubleshooting to maintaining dashboards and readiness logs.
  • Be prepared to contribute to a variety of Fleet Ballistic Missile sustainment efforts and support critical testing operations.
