The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Elementary School Teacher fosters a dynamic and engaging learning environment integrating interdisciplinary STEM concepts into the curriculum, encouraging students to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • State of Arizona Standard Professional Elementary K-8 teaching certificate
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in integrating technology and digital tools into instruction
  • Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging, student-centered learning environment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with students.
  • Ability to understand and maintain students’ and parents’ rights to confidentiality and not violate those rights; nor discuss students in inappropriate places or with anyone not in direct contact with such individual students.
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position, is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures, and Board policies, including mandatory reporting procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student exploration and skill development in STEM.
  • Implement a STEM-focused curriculum aligned with state and national educational standards.
  • Assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
  • Deliver interdisciplinary lesson plans that incorporate science, technology, engineering, arts, and math in engaging, age-appropriate ways.
  • Utilize project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-driven instruction to foster curiosity and exploration.
  • Integrate technology, coding, robotics, and engineering principles into lessons.
  • Use differentiated instruction strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs.
  • Work closely with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance the school's STEM program.
  • Collaborate with other educators to develop cross-curricular connections.
  • Evaluate, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provide progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
