Exploration Geologist I
About The Position
The Exploration Geologist supports near-mine, district, and regional exploration programs across Hecla Nevada’s exciting, well-funded portfolio of high-grade opportunities. This role contributes to target generation through geologic mapping, sampling, data collection, drilling support, interpretation, and geologic modeling, while ensuring all activities meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, the Exploration Geologist partners with technical teams and contractors to advance projects and deliver meaningful discovery and growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology required (Master’s preferred).
- 0-2 years of exploration or mining experience, epithermal experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Leapfrog, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in remote field locations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field mapping, sampling, and drill core logging.
- Generate and interpret geologic maps and models using Leapfrog and ArcGIS.
- Assist with planning and execution of exploration and drilling programs.
- Contribute to NI 43-101–compliant reports and resource models.
- Promote and maintain strong safety and environmental standards.
