About The Position
The Vertex Companies, LLC (VERTEX) is seeking a Senior level Construction Estimation Expert with extensive experience in providing expert witness testimony related to damages and repair costs in construction defect cases. This role is pivotal within our Damages/Cost Estimation group, which offers expert litigation support services to attorneys involved in construction matters, including construction defect claims, fire loss claims, and contract disputes. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing comprehensive cost of repair estimates for various scopes of work, including cladding, framing, foundation, flatwork, civil, roofing, MEP, and interior scopes, based on engineering report recommendations for reconstruction projects. In this position, you will manage multiple client matters that typically involve construction defect claims and disputes. You will analyze construction plans, documents, and contracts to understand party responsibilities and allocate cost estimate line items accordingly. Site inspections will be a key part of your role, allowing you to document observable conditions that may impact cost estimates. You will also perform and review electronic onscreen quantity takeoffs for accuracy and precision, utilizing multiple pricing databases such as Xactimate and RS Means to determine unit costs for repair work. As an expert witness, you will testify in court or arbitration settings regarding your cost estimating opinions, and you will compose detailed expert reports that highlight your cost estimating strategies and breakdowns of cost allocations. Effective communication with clients and team members is essential, as is the ability to lead project teams and manage schedules to meet deadlines and budget expectations. This role offers the flexibility of working from any of our office locations in Florida or Texas, or remotely for those with a dedicated client following.
