About The Position

Expert Water & Wastewater Asset Management Maximo Program Public Works - Water and Wastewater Status: Contract Full Time; Duration 36 Months Salary Range:Non Union Salary Band L; $151,183 per annum -$188,979 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable) Hiring Range: $151,183 per annum -$170,081 per annum Work Mode: Hybrid; 2 On site days per week which can increase based on operational needs see below for more details about this work mode. Location:10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton ON Hours of work: 35 Hours per week Who we are: Infrastructure Planning, Partnerships & Compliance (IPPC) helps achieve our mission of " Providing Clean Water for Life " by: Protecting and managing our water resources. Planning new water and wastewater infrastructure to meet growth demands. Asset management planning to maintain the existing $26 billion infrastructure in a state of good repair and planning. Supporting water and wastewater regulatory compliance and quality management systems We build and manage strategic partnerships with the Local Municipalities, Ontario Clean Water Agency, Conservation Authorities, and other municipalities and external agencies. Reports to: Manager Asset Management & Strategic Asset Planning Water & Wastewater What you will do in this role: The Expert will lead and advise professionals from a range of departments, providing strategic direction, and overall management for the Maximo Program and related projects, standards and initiatives for the Water and Wastewater division. Ensure that water and wastewater infrastructure valued at 40 Billion dollars within the Region of Peel is managed and delivered in the most effective and efficient manner and in accordance with legislative compliance, while protecting the Region of Peel’s water and wastewater infrastructure. Provide expert oversight as the Water & Wastewater Maximo Program lead , ensuring alignment with asset management objectives and service delivery outcomes. Make business decisions related to Maximo to support full asset life-cycle management and maintain assets in a Good State of Repair. Translate business strategy, asset management policy, and operational needs into clear Maximo functional requirements. Direct Maximo Program delivery across design, build, testing, deployment, and stabilization, ensuring solution integrity and quality. Define resource needs, responsibilities, timelines, and deliverables throughout the program life-cycle. Develop and manage a multi‑year program budget. Empower Water & Wastewater subject matter experts to make timely, informed decisions. Lead staff through hiring, coaching, performance management, and ensuring quality and service standards. Serve as the primary business interface with external Maximo vendors and consultants. Review and validate functional designs, process models, configuration decisions, and vendor deliverables. Ensure vendor solutions align with business requirements, asset management best practices, and regulatory obligations. Lead major projects involving data exchange between Maximo and other corporate systems. Collaborate with Corporate IT to define integration approaches, interface specifications, and data exchange protocols. Facilitate workshops with SMEs and vendors to ensure asset, work, and materials processes are supported across systems. Partner with the Corporate IT Project Manager to align schedules, manage dependencies, and coordinate testing, data migration, and cutover. Participate in governance forums, steering committees, and stage‑gate reviews as the business lead. Lead business change and readiness activities, including training validation, role‑based process design, and user acceptance testing. Support organizational planning to ensure successful adoption and sustainment of Maximo. Identify, manage, and escalate business risks, issues, constraints, and dependencies. Track realization of program benefits such as improved asset data quality, maintenance effectiveness, system reliability, and capital planning.

Requirements

  • A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted).
  • University or college graduate in Engineering, Asset Management, Operations Management
  • 8–12 years of experience in water and/or wastewater operations, asset management, maintenance, or engineering environments.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng,) Designation (Ontario) or Certified Asset Management Professional (CAMP) is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in enterprise EAM implementations (IBM Maximo preferred).
  • Proven experience leading business-side teams working alongside IT project managers and system integrators.
  • Strong technical knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure and related functions.
  • Ability to manage large complex projects and to develop project budgets.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate without formal authority.
  • Leadership skills to deliver various projects within a program schedule on time and with quality.
  • Proven track record of establishing productive relationships with business partners, customers and staff.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to effectively convey complex issues and concepts at various levels within an organization.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to resolve issues related to water and wastewater infrastructure and associated operational work management processes.
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, problem solving and issue resolution skills in situations where the problem maybe be technical, managerial or interpersonal.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in municipal or regulated utility environments is a strong asset.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of IBM Maximo and associated modules/applications.
