About The Position

As an Expert AI Technical Designer, you'll collaborate closely with the AI Director and cross-disciplinary teams to bridge the gap between Engineering and Design. You'll play a key role in defining, building, and refining the next generation of AI systems for the Call of Duty franchise, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in large-scale, high-fidelity combat experiences. Partner with AI Engineering and Design teams to design, prototype, and implement advanced AI systems and behaviors. Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

Requirements

10+ years of experience in the game industry, with at least two shipped AAA titles.
Deep passion for First Person Shooter gameplay and an understanding of what makes great AI in this genre.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and deconstruct AI design in modern games.
Professional experience with game editor tools such as Radiant, Unreal Engine, Unity, or CryEngine.
Strong knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Lua) and a solid grasp of C++ fundamentals.
Prior hands-on experience with AI systems such as Finite State Machines (FSMs) and Behavior Trees.
Strong understanding of linear algebra and 3D math as they apply to AI and gameplay systems.
Proactive, self-driven problem-solver with a passion for improving processes and tools.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Responsibilities

Drive innovation in AI architecture, workflows, and tools to enhance designer efficiency and creative freedom.
Evaluate, iterate, and tune AI systems to achieve responsive, believable, and challenging enemy and ally behaviors.
Act as a bridge between creative vision and technical execution, ensuring high-quality implementation across all stages of development.
Mentor and support other designers in AI tools, pipelines, and best practices.
