About The Position

The Expert Software Engineer is a highly skilled technical contributor responsible for designing, developing, and delivering advanced, scalable, and secure software solutions. This role leverages deep expertise in software engineering to solve complex problems, optimize system performance, and ensure the highest standards of code quality. The Expert Software Engineer collaborates with engineering teams and stakeholders, mentors peers, and drives innovation through continuous learning and application of best practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 10 years preferred work experience.
  • 7 years in software development, including experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
  • Expert proficiency in programming languages and API development (Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript; REST/gRPC) with strong understanding of architectural patterns and system design.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Expertise in databases (SQL and NoSQL) and advanced data management practices.
  • Deep knowledge of security principles, authentication, authorization, and compliance best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring, and logging (ELK Stack, Prometheus, Splunk).
  • Strong collaboration, communication, advanced analytical problem-solving skills, and ability to mentor and support engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced Solution Design & Implementation (30%): Architect, design, and implement complex, scalable, secure mobile or web applications using Application Engine, ServiceNow Studio or update sets Conduct design and code reviews to ensure compliance with engineering standards Develop and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, architectural artifacts and knowledge article documentation
  • Technical Problem Solving (20%): Analyze and resolve challenging issues across the full ServiceNow stack. Optimize performance, reliability, and manageability of ServiceNow. Support root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Cloud Engineering & DevOps (15%): Support DevOps functions including SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing. Work with product teams to implement technical solutions or integrate with other tools or 3rd party systems. Support multiple ServiceNow products including ITSM, SPM, Discover, ITOM related or existing workflows.
  • Security & Compliance (10%): Implement security best practices in software design and development. Partner with security teams to identify risks and apply mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement (10%): Work closely with product managers, business analysts, and other partners to gather requirements and deliver high‑quality solutions to improve user experience and improve efficiency. Participate in vendor integration and technical evaluations as needed.
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing (15%): Mentor engineers by sharing deep technical expertise and promoting engineering excellence. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
