About The Position

TrinityRail Maintenance Services, Inc. is searching for an Expert Post Weld Heat Treat Specialist for our Shell Rock, IA plant. We provide a complete array of railcar maintenance services. In this role, the Post Weld Heat Treat Specialist serves as the subject matter expert for the post weld heat treat team. The specialist must be able to setup the interior and exterior of tank cars, troubleshoot problems within the process, and perform routine maintenance to heat treat equipment. Additional responsibilities of the specialist include, but are not limited to operating the PCE 1230 heat treat machines, retrieving heat treat data from machines, building heat treat charts from the data and appropriately filing the data. The specialist needs to have a complete understanding of the confined space policy, all heat treat procedures, and must be able to mentor and train new hires. The specialist also needs to be able to use hand tools, portable tools, hoists and cranes to move materials. In a specialist role, you also must be able to competently operate scissor and aerial lifts.

Requirements

• 1+ year of on the job post weld heat treat experience is preferred
• Proficient with the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, & PowerPoint
• Certified as a Post Weld Heat Treat Technician Level 2
• Good communication skills
• Must be a team player
• Must be competent with the use of basic hand tools including a tape measure
• Must pass our level 3 assessment, including welding torch

Responsibilities

• Considered a subject matter expert in the post weld heat treat area
• Troubleshoot problems within the post weld heat treat process
• Pull data from machines as required
• Use Microsoft programs to build charts with data and appropriately file that data
• Complete understanding of the job, company policies and processes
• Apply knowledge and skills to complete a wide range of complex tasks
• Set up burns and monitor heat treat machines as required throughout the process
• Familiar with a broad variety of post weld heat treat concepts, practices and procedures
• Perform routine maintenance on heat treat equipment
• Use independent judgment and resourcefulness
• Solve and identify complex problems using advanced technical knowledge and creativity
• Mentor and train other employees in the post weld heat treat area
