About The Position

The position involves welding components in both vertical and horizontal positions, requiring a strong understanding of blueprints and weld symbols. The candidate will be responsible for laying out, positioning, aligning, and securing parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using various tools such as straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. The role also includes examining work pieces for defects and ensuring they conform to specifications. The candidate must recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, including shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Maintaining equipment in a safe condition and adhering to safety standards is crucial.

Requirements

• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience in FCAW welding/fitting.
• Structural steel background preferred.
• Recognize and understand weld symbols.
• Accurately read a tape line.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in vertical or horizontal position.
• Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.
• Understand and follow company and OSHA safety rules.
