About The Position

UTLX, as part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—offers a role for qualified welders at our full-service rail tank car repair shop in Cleveland, Texas. The company's regulatory, engineering, and commercial expertise make UTLX the preferred source of railcars and services for many customers. We are seeking experienced mechanical welders for our 3rd shift Mechanical department, with a pay rate of $28.21-$29.70 plus shift differential. This position involves welding components related to tank cars and performing various mechanical repairs.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW), MIG (GMAW), and TIG (GTAW).
• Must pass the applicable welding test as prescribed by the company.
• Have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Demonstrate job-related computational knowledge, such as reading a ruler.

Responsibilities

• Welds components related to tank cars including tanks, bolsters, underframes, side sills, etc.
• Performs welded repairs using air arc cutting torch and stick or wire welding equipment.
• Uses hand tools and equipment to chip and grind weld, slag or spatter.
• Repairs, straightens, removes, reworks car parts, brakes, underframes, center plates, gears, couplers, valves, etc.
• Performs welding and mechanical repairs to tank and hopper cars when required.
• Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards.
